It has already been several years since LABORIE Jazz became aware of the talent of Mangane, an extraordinary voice where tonality and accent transport us immediately, to Africa of course, but far beyond. A voice that creates in our mind a setting of dreams, a space for play, inner wisdom, a territory of smiles. A few collaborations led us to share his presence on stage from Solo to Quintet, but we felt that this treasure of sensations was not fully accomplished, or rather fulfilled. The idea was to share with Mangane, this observation was the trigger and made it possible from the beginning of the year 2021 to open the horizon of a strong and essential moment in the career of any artist "to let him speak out ".

A meeting at the beginning of 2021 took place between the composer, arranger and bassist Alune Wade, also Senegalese. Meeting which turned out to be the right formula because these two compatriots had already met in other times, in other circumstances where the young Alune Wade was going to hear Nakodje in the four corners of Senegal. The time was now for reunions, listening and “doing together”.

Very quickly, the exchanges between the stakeholders resulted in a two-headed direction, Mangane in the composition, Alune Wade in the musical direction and the arrangements. The orchestra formed on the basis of a Quintet, desired by Mangane, is completed for the concert and recording part by the presence of Valérie Belinga on vocals, Carlos Sarduy on trumpet and Hugues Mayot on saxophones.

Already several years that we work, exchange, share with Damien Fleau, on many subjects, music of course but also Life, Cultures, the environment...

In FESTEN, the saxophonist had surprised us with his playing, powerful, subtle, a real, easily identifiable sound, associated with the musician, the composer. A quality of writing that transports, that takes us through comics, action films, landscapes, climates. From now on, it is the pianist that we discover and there too the talent is heard at the first note.

With his "Breaking Waves" it is a specific time in his life, a story, an adventure and a future in which he takes us along with the winds, currents and storms.

We had almost left Sébastien Farge after his Grand Prix du Disque "Gus Viseur 2015", where his vibrant tribute to Jean Ségurel associated with some personal compositions, confirmed an immense talent and gave a glimpse of an unusual vision of the accordion for the benefit of LA music.

Curious, passionate about his instrument, its history, adviser for the last French Accordion Manufacture, Maugein, tireless worker and composer, Sébastien matured this openness to Jazz and improvised music. A few months ago, when designing and writing "Origins", Sébastien had deep within him this feeling and this desire to bring together all that is in him to return, and give, to the accordion of new titles to conquer, the affirmation of the beauty of this instrument and the sounds produced.

His progress in this musical aesthetic confronted him and confirmed him in the eyes and ears of strong personalities, Sylvain Luc, Bernard Cavanna, Roland Romanelli...

A voice is now emerging, a reality and an observation, that of a complex mechanism at the service of the most beautiful emotions through exceptional writing and touch.
